Useful Atlas is designed with privacy-first defaults. The public site does not load advertising or marketing scripts unless they are explicitly configured and enabled with consent controls.

Data processed when you visit the site

When you request a page, the hosting provider may process technical server log data such as IP address, request time, requested URL, referrer, user agent, response code, and transfer volume. This is used to deliver the site, monitor reliability, troubleshoot errors, and protect the service from misuse.

Search, theme preference, and admin area

The public search runs in your browser and fetches a small public search index. Search terms can appear in the page URL and may therefore be included in normal server logs. If you manually choose light or dark mode, the preference is stored locally in your browser. The protected admin area uses security cookies for login protection; these cookies are not used for public tracking.

Contact requests

If you contact us by email, we process the information you send so we can answer your request, handle corrections, manage legal or privacy requests, and keep necessary records.

Analytics and advertising

Useful Atlas uses a self-hosted Plausible Analytics instance at analytics.usefulatlas.com for privacy-friendly aggregate site statistics for usefulatlas.com. Plausible is configured as cookieless analytics: it does not set tracking cookies, does not use persistent visitor identifiers, and is used to understand aggregate page views, referrers, device/browser categories, and similar usage patterns rather than individual visitor profiles. Plausible's public data policy is available at plausible.io/data-policy.

Google Analytics 4 is configured for traffic measurement and product improvement. The cookie banner is currently enabled with accept, reject, and customize controls. Optional analytics is loaded only after analytics consent where required. Google Consent Mode is currently enabled for the site consent-gated analytics setup.

Google Ads and AdSense are currently not active. Advertising scripts must not be enabled until the legal, consent, and layout checks are complete.

Legal basis and retention

Technical delivery, security, troubleshooting, basic editorial operations, and cookieless aggregate measurement are handled for legitimate operational interests. Consent-based services such as Google Analytics or advertising are only enabled after consent where required. Data is kept only as long as needed for the stated purpose, legal obligations, dispute handling, or security review.

Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, transfer, or object to the processing of personal data. You may also withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
